Caption: George Bowdler Buckton (1818-1905), British entomologist. Buckton was born in London and privately educated after a boyhood accident left him crippled. He entered the Royal College of Chemistry in 1847, publishing several papers on his researches. In 1865 he married, and following a move out of London he turned his researches to entomology. His most important work was conducted on the Homoptera, especially the aphids. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1852, and was also a member of the Entomological and Linnean Societies.
