Caption: Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus). Pair of sperm whales close to the water's surface. These whales can grow up to 16 metres in length and weigh 40 tonnes. They feed on squid, octopus and fish. Sperm whales are social animals, living in groups of around a dozen individuals. Photographed in the Gulf of California.
