Rights Managed

White stork drowning in the Dead Sea. Helpless white stork (Ciconia ciconia) stuck in the extremely salty water of the Dead Sea after mistaking it for fresh water. White storks are very large wading birds that feed on fish, frogs, insects, small reptiles, rodents and smaller birds. They migrate annually from Europe to Sub-Saharan Africa. The Dead Sea is the lowest elevation on the Earth's surface on dry land and one of the world's saltiest bodies of water, with 33.7 per cent salinity. Photographed in Israel, in August.
