The volume study stage of the treatment involves using scans to create a three-dimensional image of the prostate to aid planning of the next stage. Radioactive sources are then implanted in the tissue in a procedure known as brachytherapy, a form of radiotherapy. Photographed at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre, Western General Hospital, Scotland.
