Caption: The California Clapper Rail (Rallus longirostris obsoletus) is one of the largest members of the Rallidae family measuring 13-19 inches in height. It is hen-like in appearance, with a long bill. Clapper Rails are secretive birds and if disturbed typically freeze or hide in dense vegetation.
