Caption: Wampoo Pigeon, (Ptilinopus magnificus). This large and beautiful pigeon, (also called a fruit-dove), grows to around 40cm in length. It occurs along the east coast of Australia from the far north to the south-east of the continent. It is a relatively common inhabitant of the rainforests of the tropical east coast. It feeds upon the fruit of various trees.
