Caption: The Northern Island Morning Glory (Callystegia macrostegia var. macrostegia) is a perennial vine with twining stems 12 feet long and green, arrow shaped leaves up to 2 inches across. The white trumpet-shaped flowers exhibit a subtle incorporation of purple and pink stripes with age. It grows in coastal sage scrub and chaparral communities and is especially common after fires. Island Morning Glory blooms from April through July and is endemic to each of the four Northern Channel Islands and Guadalupe Island.
