Caption: Santa Cruz Island Buckwheat (Eriogonum arborescens) is a dusty white flower shrub that grows on rocky canyon walls and sea cliffs. It's species name, arborecens, means tree-like. It's white flowers darken to a rust color with age. It blooms from March through May, and also in December and is found on Anacapa, Santa Cruz, and Santa Rosa Islands.
