Caption: Liang Bua cave exploration. Workers sorting earth extracted from the Liang Bua Cave, Flores island, Indonesia, during archaeological excavations. This cave is the site of a discovery in 2003 of a potentially new species of human, named Homo floresiensis. The earth is placed in mounds according to its original location and the date it was removed. It will be washed and sieved to extract any bone fragments before being returned to the cave. Photographed in August 2007.
