Caption: Tactile receptor associated to a hair follicle. When the hair is not dislocated by a friction or a contact (see image 5607106), the canal-receptor remains closed, leaving the sodium ions outside the cell. The dislocation of the hair leads to the opening of the canal-receptor, that then leaves the sodium ions inside the cell. The massive entrance of Na+ ions causes a voltage difference between the outside (at the top) and the inside of the cell (depolarization), that creates an electric signal or nerve impulse.
