Caption: OSTEOPOROSIS, ILLUSTRATION Sites of osteoporotic fractures. Osteoporosis affects mainly menauposed women. It results from a progressive demineralization of bones, that translates into the diminution of their density. The bone, become fragile, can then fracture very easily. The fractures most recent are the ones of vertebral column (vertebral settling, 44%), femur neck (19%), wrist (14%). The other regions affected are : the ribs, the clavicle, the humerus, the tibiae, iliac bone (pelvis), ... ... Skeleton. See image 8509406 for a similar illustration in another color.
