DustBot robot. DustBot is a wheeled robot designed to collect household rubbish in areas that are difficult to access with large rubbish collection vehicles. It is summoned by mobile phone, and uses a global positioning system (GPS) to travel to where it is needed, and takes the rubbish to a collection point. It also has sensors to monitor environmental pollution. It moves on two wheels, using a gyroscope to remain upright, and sensors to avoid collisions. Prototype testing and launches took place in 2009. Photographed in Italy.
