Caption: Digital broadcasting, conceptual image. The concentric rings radiating out from the top of the television tower represent the radio broadcast waves. The signals being transmitted are in the VHF to UHF range (very high to ultra high frequency). Digital broadcasting uses discrete (digital) signals, as opposed to continuous (analogue) signals. This is more efficient and enables more television and radio stations to be broadcast. This is Emley Moor transmitting station, in Emley, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. It was built from 1969 to 1971, and is 330 metres tall.
