Caption: Bee virus research. Entomologist injecting a healthy bee (superfamily Apoidea) with viruses extracted from bees in colonies showing colony collapse disorder (CCD). The bee's immune response will be evaluated, in an attempt to discover methods to provide immunity to the disorder. CCD is the sudden disappearance of worker bees from a colony. The cause is poorly understood, but may be due to a combination of factors, such as mite infestation or various viruses.
