Caption: False-colour transmission electron micrograph of a late stage of cell division in the root tip cell (meristem) of Zea mays, maize. The micrograph shows the telophase stage of mitosis where the daughter nuclei (red and green bodies) are reforming into membrane bound organelles. The membrane is not complete yet. Between the two forming nuclei is the developing cell wall, which is constructed by the coalescence of vesicles in a line: in places the vesicle structure of the wall is still visible. The dark blue bodies are cell vacuoles. Magnification: x2400 at 6x4.5cm size.
