Caption: Old Tom Parr (1483-1635), 17th-century Englishman. The text below the portrait gives details of Thomas Parr's birth, claiming that at the time the artwork was published, Parr was 152 years old. It was claimed that Parr's life spanned the reigns of no less than ten English monarchs. Parr died a few months later and was buried in Westminster Abbey, London. A post-mortem, by the physician William Harvey, led to the conclusion that Parr was less than 70 years old when he died.
