Caption: Launch pad assembly. Cranes being used during construction of a launch pad at the European Space Agency's (ESA) spaceport, the Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG), in Kourou, French Guiana. This launch pad will be used for modern Souyz ST rockets built by the Russian space agency. The Soyuz ST is a variant of the Soyuz 2, a three-stage carrier rocket used to place payloads into low Earth orbit (LEO). Photographed in February 2007.
