Caption: Launch pad and support towers. This launch pad, at the European Space Agency's (ESA) spaceport, the Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG), in Kourou, French Guiana, is used for Ariane 4 rockets built by the ESA. The Ariane 4 is a versatile 3-stage vehicle with 2-4 strap-on boosters containing either solid or liquid fuel. Ariane 4 stands 60 metres tall, and lifts payloads into geostationary orbit. Photographed in February 2007.
