Caption: Olympus Mons, Mars, height-colour-coded satellite image. Olympus Mons is the highest volcano on Mars, standing 27 kilometres (around 16.7 miles, 88,580 feet) high, about three times the height of Mount Everest. This image covers an area of approximately 600,000 square kilometres and is based on data from the digital terrain model (DTM). White and red areas are highest, and blue areas are lowest. The image data is from the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on board the European Space Agency's (ESA) Mars Express Orbiter.
