Caption: The light ray inside the stream of water in this demonstration behaves as it would inside an optical fiber. The light beam travels in through one end and out through the other, reflecting back and forth off the walls, without passing through the walls. It doesn't matter if the fiber is straight, curved, or bent into loops; the light beam travels all the way through. This is called total internal reflection.
