Caption: Detail of a monkey column bas-relief at Philae, Egypt. The complex of temples at Philae was built over a period of 800 years from around 700 BC. From 1977-1980, the temples of Philae were rescued from the rising waters of the Nile (rising due to the Aswan High Dam) and rebuilt on a higher island nearby.
