Caption: This method of rapidly sequencing an entire genome uses modified RNA fragments (green) tethered to stationary beads to capture fragments of DNA (orange) from an entire genomic library. The captured DNA fragments are ultimately arrayed in parallel on an Illumina Genome Analyzer chip and detected by laser-excitation fluorescence. The genomic sequence can be deduced from the resulting pattern of lights (see background of image).
