Caption: DNA crystal nanoscale crystal structure designed by Nadrian Seeman, showing a crystal structure of a DNA lattice (PDB 3gbi). It is built of small 3D triangular subunits, each composed of three separate types of DNA strands. At the corners of the 3D triangle, there are sticky ends that link to other triangles, stacking up into a three-dimensional scaffold. These scaffoldings are used in nanotechnology research, like hosting other molecules (e.g. proteins) or building future nanoscale electrical devices.
