Caption: Spirillum sp. Coloured transmission electron micrograph (TEM) of corkscrew or spiral shaped bacteria (Spirillum sp.). The bacteria are found in fresh & salt water containing organic material. They are highly mobile, using the tufts of flagella located at either end of the cell for propulsion. Most species are non-pathogenic, an exception is Spirillum minus, the rat-bite fever bacteria. Magnification: x23,000 at 6x7cm size.
