Caption: Electron flow. Computer model of electron flow in a 2-dimensional electrical landscape. The pattern observed depends upon both the initial conditions and the electric potential. Electrons enter from across top in a uniform sheet spreading to right, with some entering from left as well. Successive electrons overwrite previous paths. This creates the 3-dimensional appearance seen across top. The branching effect is caused by the bumpy landscape (electric potential) in which the electrons move. This model of electron flow was created as an artwork by Professor Eric Heller.
