Caption: Soviet cosmonaut silence training. Soviet cosmonaut Pavel Popovich (1930-2009) training in a silence chamber. He spent many days in this chamber to help prepare him for his mission into space. Popovich was one of the first men to be launched into space. He flew the solo Vostok 4 mission from 12-15 August 1962, orbiting the Earth 48 times. Photographed in the Moscow region of Russia.
