Caption: Cheranovsky with Korolyov and glider. Aircraft designer Boris Cheranovsky (left) and pilot and future Soviet rocket engineer Sergey Korolev (1907-1966, right) in 1932 with a BICh-8 glider designed by Cheranovsky. Korolyov studied aviation in the 1920s, moving into rocketry in the 1930s. He would later become the chief Soviet rocket designer in the 1950s and 1960s during the space race. Photographed in Russia, in September 1932.
