Caption: Bykovsky before Vostok 5 launch. Soviet cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky (born 1934) in his launch suit for the Vostok 5 spacecraft, one of the first manned missions into space. During this solo mission, which took place from 14-19 June 1963, Bykovsky orbited the Earth 82 times. Photographed at the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan, on 13 June 1963.
