Caption: Valvular incontinence and tissue lesion of the veins. Representation of the incontinence of the saphenous vein valve (on the left of the drawing), which leads to a venous reflux at the level of the of the adjacent vein passageway and a capillary hyperpressure, provoking a plasmatic leak and an endothelial modification. Leucocytes (in grey) adhere to the wall of the vein and migrate outside of the latter (extravasation). Leucocytes release free radicals (red balls), prolytic enzymes (in yellow), chimiotactic factors (orange and blue balls), and cytokines (pink balls) provoking an tissue inflammation and an ischemia by lack of drainage ; result : hypodermitis (acute inflammation of the hypodermis), ochre dermatitis (inflammation of the skin with iron deposits) or ulcer (persisting wound) at the level of the leg.
