This bacterium is resistant to most antibiotic drugs. Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive spherical (coccus) bacterium. MRSA is of serious concern in hospitals and has caused dangerous outbreaks, particularly in geriatric wards. Its spread may be very hard to control.
