Caption: Gulf of Mexico oil spill, 2010. Subsea Oil Recovery System (centre) being delivered to the Deepwater Horizon site in the Gulf of Mexico. The chamber will be lowered over the leak. The Deepwater Horizon oil rig sank on the 22nd April, two days after an explosion and fire on the rig. Over five thousand barrels of oil a day leaked into the Gulf of Mexico, 80 kilometres from the coast of Louisiana, USA, harming local wildlife and fishing industries.
