Caption: Some fish simply defy explanation. All science knows so far about this new species of catfish or plecostomus in the genus Pseudancistrus is that males have a face lined with sharp and rigid needles. Science has yet to determine the function of the spines. The fish are found in Brazil. Photographed in 2007 courtesy of River Wonders Inc.
