Caption: Bubble chamber photo of the production of a neutral pion & its decay into a pair of gamma ray photons. A negative kaon shoots up from the bottom of the picture & decays into a negative pion, which veers to the right, & the pi-zero. Being neutral, this pion leaves no track; it decays immediately into two gamma ray photons, which are also neutral & therefore unseen. The photons move up the picture until they strike a lead sheet (not shown) in the bubble chamber; the lead causes them to turn into twin electron/positron pairs. The small tight spiral at upper right is another electron. (More information available if needed).
