Caption: Cold-loving extremophile bacteria. Coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of Rhodoglobus vestalii. This psychrophilic (cold-loving) bacteria was retrieved from a lake in Antarctica. It can grow in temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to 21 degrees Celsius. The bacteria grows unusual bulbous protusions.
