Caption: Photograph of the tracks of subatomic particles in a bubble chamber at the Brookhaven National Laboratory, Long Island. Electrically charged particles traversing the liquid of a bubble chamber produce trails of tiny bubbles which appear as tracks when photographed. The paths of the particles are bent by the bubble chamber's magnetic field: the more massive & energetic the particle, the less its path bends. The small, tight spiral tracks in this photograph are produced by lightweight, low- energy electrons knocked out of atoms in the bubble chamber liquid by particles traversing the chamber.
