Caption: Bubble chamber photo of a proton interaction in the 30- inch hydrogen bubble chamber at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), near Chicago. The 200 GeV proton enters from the left & collides with a proton at rest in the liquid hydrogen filling the chamber, producing a spray of other particles. The paths of the particles are bent by the bubble chamber's magnetic field: the more massive & energetic the particle, the less its path bends. The small, tight spiral tracks are produced by lightweight, low- energy electrons knocked out of atoms in the bubble chamber liquid.
