Caption: Fertilized frog eggs. Known as frogspawn, this consists of fertilized eggs from a frog, here the common frog (Rana temporaria). Embryos (black) are developing inside the eggs. These embryos are from 1 to 2 days old, and will hatch as tadpoles after about 3 days to one week. The tadpoles will then develop into frogs.
