Caption: Specimen of an ammonite of the genus dactylioceras dating from the Lower Jurassic period, approximately 170 million years ago. The original calcium carbonate shell has been fossilised in limestone and also the mineral pyrite (iron sulphide) which gives it a golden metallic sheen. Diameter 30mm.
