Caption: Drechslera fungus. Coloured Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) of the mycelium (vegetative structure) of the fungus Drechslera sp. Here, a network of hyphae (vegetative filaments) are seen. At centre are two clusters of fruiting bodies, oval-shaped conidia which contain spores. Drechslera sp. is a fungus found on the seeds of cereals and grasses. Species of Drechslera are pathogenic causing such plant diseases as seedling blight, net blotch and leaf-stripe in barley. Magnification: x90 at 6x7cm size. x145 at 4x5"
