Caption: Microascus fungus. Macrophotograph of the fungus Microascus. The orange threads are columns of spores, the reproductive bodies. The spores are emerging from the dark circular spore producing bodies. The white is the hyphae, the main body of the fungus. Microascus is a commonly occurring environmental fungus. In rare cases it can be pathogenic causing deep infections, for example, in the liver. Magnification x5 at 35mm size.
