Caption: Leybourn's Panorganon manual. Title page to Panorganon (1672) by the English land surveyor William Leybourn (1626-1716). This work concerned methods used in a range of disciplines (listed on the title page) such as geometry, astronomy, geography, dialling (sun dials), map projection, and trigonometry. Also included on the title page is the full title (top) and the author's name (lower centre). The latter has the appended style of 'philom', signifying 'philomath' (lover of learning). The text at bottom gives the name of the publisher (William Birch), and the name and location of the book's printer in the Cheapside area of London.
