Caption: Airshow. View of three aircraft as part of a display at an airshow. At left are two Sukhoi Su-27 fighters, while at top is a Tupolev Tu-144 supersonic passenger jet. Photographed at the MAKS2007 airshow near Moscow, Russia. The Su-27 (known to NATO as 'Flanker') is an air superiority fighter that has been in the front line of the Russian Air Force since late 1984. The Tu-144 (known to NATO as 'Charger') first flew in 1968, just before the Anglo-French Concorde. It entered service in 1975 but was retired after just 55 passenger flights and 47 cargo flights. It has since been used as a high-speed test platform.
