Caption: Proton rocket launch. Launch of a Proton-K rocket on 26 October 2007. The rocket is carrying three GLONASS-M global positioning satellites into orbit. The Proton-K rocket first flew in 1967. It is unusual in that each of the six first-stage engines has its own fuel tank in the fairings near the base, but share a common oxidiser tank. The rocket is powered by unsymmetrical dimethyl hydrazine (UDMH) fuel and dinitrogen tetroxide (N2O4) as oxidiser.
