Caption: Bracket fungus. Close-up of several basidiocarps (fruiting bodies) of the bracket fungus (Coriolus versicolor). There is also some moss on the damp log (left). The basidiocarp is the large, flat, shelf- like structure that gives the fungus its common name. These structures can live for many years and show characteristic growth rings. C. versicolor is commonly found in deciduous woodlands, growing on stumps and logs.
