Caption: Sand dunes on Mars. Coloured satellite image of sand dunes (left) in the Rabe Crater on Mars. These dunes cover much of the crater floor. They range in height from 150 to 200 metres and are formed from fine grains of basalt. Image obtained by the Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) aboard NASA’s Mars Odyssey orbiter.
