Caption: Flight from Russia to the USA. Aerial view of a Tupolev ANT-25 long range aircraft shortly after its non-stop flight from Russia to the United States. The flight took off from a special 4-km long runway near Moscow, crossed the North Pole and ended at San Jacinto airfield, southern California, a distance of 11,500km. The flight lasted for 62 hours and 17 minutes on 12-14 July 1937. On landing, the aircraft had enough fuel to stay aloft for another 1,500km, but the crew did not have permission to fly over Mexico.
