Caption: Launch of Bhaskara-2. A Cosmos-3M rocket blasts off from Kapustin Yar in Russia, carrying the Bhaskara-2 satellite. Bhaskara-2 was India's second Earth observation satellite and was launched on 20 November 1981. It used two television cameras to monitor the land cover and sea surface from an altitude of 380km. The satellite was operational for ten years, re-entering on 30 November 1991.
