Caption: Mushroom pore surface. Macrophotograph of the pore surface of a fruiting body, or mushroom, of the fungus Boletus erythropus. The microscopic spores are released through the pores to drift on the wind and form a new fungal body or mycelium. When picked or handled this mushroom bruises very easily, turning from red to blue-black, as seen at lower centre. This mushroom is found in woodlands. Magnification: x2 at 35mm size.
