Caption: Red-cracked boletus (Boletus chrysenteron) fungi growing on a forest floor. This fungus is common in broad-leaved woodland throughout Europe and is seen in autumn when its mushroom-like fruiting body is produced. The surface of the mushroom is a brown colour, taking on a red "flush" late in the season. The surface will also crack, revealing the lemon-yellow, coral-like flesh beneath, as seen here.
