Caption: This axial CT image after a cisternogram shows a small tumor, (acoustic schwannoma), being outlined by contrast in the left cerebello-pontine angle, (on your right), extending out from the left internal auditory canal. Cisternograms are performed by instilling positive contrast into the lumbar subarachnoid space after a lumbar puncture, (spinal tap). The patient is then placed head down so that the positive contrast will run into the subarachnoid space intracranially.
